I recently visited George's Friendly Auto to get an estimate on replacing the engine in my 2015 Ford F-150. My first impression was very positive. The ladies in the office were friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The office manager told me she would prepare an estimate and get back to me the following day. When I didn't hear back, I sent a follow-up message requesting an update. Later that day, the office manager returned my call, but I was in a meeting and unable to answer. I called back the next day, and although the office manager was out of the office, another employee provided me with a verbal estimate of approximately $21,000 for the engine replacement. I was surprised by the amount, as it seemed significantly higher than expected. For comparison, I obtained another estimate from a different repair shop for approximately $14,500, which included replacing both the engine and the transmission. Wanting to better understand the difference, I sent another follow-up message requesting a written copy of the estimate so I could compare the parts and labor. Unfortunately, I never received the estimate or any further response. While everyone I interacted with was courteous, the lack of follow-up and the inability to obtain a written estimate left me disappointed. I was hoping for better communication throughout the process. I understand that pricing can vary from one repair shop to another, but clear communication and follow-through are important. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Lesson learned.
